These terms apply to purchases from The Rowan Tree online shop. Nothing in them limits your statutory consumer rights.

About us

Ordering and payment

Placing an order is an offer to buy. Our order acknowledgement confirms receipt; we accept your order when we dispatch the goods and send a dispatch notification. If we cannot accept an order because an item is unavailable or there is a pricing error, we will contact you and refund any payment promptly. We will not substitute goods or charge a higher price without your agreement.

Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where applicable. Delivery costs are explained before you pay. Payment is taken when you order using the methods offered at checkout. Payment providers process card information securely.

Gift vouchers

Shop gift vouchers are available in our Budleigh Salterton shop. Please ask the team about the terms, expiry and redemption options before buying; do not assume a shop voucher can be purchased or redeemed online. Terms given at purchase continue to apply, subject to your statutory rights. A voucher term does not remove any legal cancellation or refund right.

Delivery

We aim to dispatch most orders within one working day. See our Shipping Policy for charges, estimates, destinations and any restrictions. Online checkout currently serves UK addresses; we do not ship to the USA. Contact us about other international enquiries.

We will deliver within 30 days unless a different period has been agreed. Goods sent with our chosen carrier remain our responsibility until you or your nominated recipient, other than the carrier, physically receives them. Contact us about delays, loss or damage. Our Shipping Policy explains your rights if delivery is late.

Cancellation, returns and faulty goods

For most online goods purchases, tell us you wish to cancel within 14 days after the day you receive the goods. You then have a further 14 days to return them. You may inspect goods as you would in a shop; opening packaging alone does not remove your cancellation right. Some statutory exclusions apply.

Our Returns & Refunds Policy explains how to cancel, return costs, refund timing and the optional cancellation form. Statutory refunds are not at management's discretion. Faulty, damaged, incorrect or misdescribed goods have separate rights, and we pay reasonable return costs for those goods.

In-store purchases have no automatic legal change-of-mind right, but statutory rights for faulty or misdescribed goods still apply.

Product information

We take care to describe products accurately. Screen colours may differ slightly, but this does not remove your right to goods that match their description. If an item becomes unavailable, we will discuss the options, including a refund, and will not substitute without agreement.

Privacy and AI chat

Our Privacy Policy explains order processing, customer support, Shopify-powered AI chat, service providers, marketing choices and data protection rights. AI chat can make mistakes; you can ask for help from the shop team. Its responses do not remove your statutory rights.

Website content

Our original text, design and branding belong to The Rowan Tree. Third-party product images and brand materials belong to their respective owners. Please ask before reproducing material for commercial use.

Our responsibility

We are responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our breach of these terms or failure to use reasonable care and skill. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that the law does not allow us to exclude. Goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described.

Changes and disputes

Updated terms apply to future orders. The terms in force when you order continue to apply to that order unless you agree otherwise or a change is required by law.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Consumers in Scotland or Northern Ireland may also bring proceedings in their home courts. Mandatory protections that apply where you live are preserved.
