There are some scents that don't so much fill a room as open a window in it. Inis — pronounced Innish, the Irish word for island — is one of them: clean sea air, somehow bottled. What does Inis actually smell like?
Fresh is the word everyone reaches for, but it doesn't quite cover it. Inis opens with bright, sparkling citrus, then settles into something cooler and more mineral — the smell of clean skin after a swim in cold water. It isn't sweet, it isn't heavy, and it stays light from morning to evening. If you've stood on a beach in early summer and taken a proper lungful, you're most of the way there.

The story behind the bottle
Inis is made by Fragrances of Ireland, a small family-run company in County Wicklow on Ireland's east coast. Everything is made in Ireland, nothing is tested on animals, and a share of Inis sales goes to marine conservation — which is why a dolphin swims across the packaging. The cologne: which size makes sense
The 30ml is the bottle most people start with — enough to know whether Inis is your scent without committing to the full size (spoiler: most people come back for the 100ml, which works out the best value per spray). The roll-on is the quiet overachiever of the range: it's actually eau de parfum concentration, so it lasts longer on the skin than the cologne, and it lives happily in a coat pocket.

The home fragrance side of the range is where Inis quietly wins people over. The Home & Linen Mist (£22.99) is the one we spray near the shop door on grey mornings — a pass over curtains or bed linen and a room feels aired without a window ever opening. The Scented Candle (£25.99) does the same job on winter evenings, the Home Refresher Oil (£14) works with burners and refreshes potpourri, and the little Scented Sachet (£4.99) is the cheapest way to make a drawer of jumpers smell like a holiday.

Bath, body and the everyday pieces
This is how most people fall properly down the Inis rabbit hole: one bar of soap, and suddenly the whole bathroom follows. The Sea Mineral Soap (£5.50, or a generous 212g bar at £9.99) is our most re-bought Inis item.
